Jewish Voice for Peace: We Did It!

We did it. Over 36,000 of us let 60 Minutes, America’s best-known news program, know we have their backs if they get bullied for reporting on the impact of the Israeli occupation on Palestinians.
In just one week, our thank-yous for their segment on Palestinian Christians far surpassed pro-occupation groups’ 29,000 angry emails. And we took your message right into the offices of 60 Minutes where it was heard loud and clear.
Now we have a new goal. Can you help?

If you chip in just $18 or $36, we can get our message, Don’t Give In to Bullying, to every single radio and TV station general manager and news editor, and every daily newspaper editor in America.
And we can do it in the next few weeks.
Click here to help us raise $10,000 so we can place a hard-hitting ad where we know journalists will see it and purchase a specialized database that will allow us to deliver our message directly to journalists, not just now, but whenever there’s a big story and they’re likely to get pressure.

And if we make our goal, I promise you we’ll walk the halls of the National Press Club in Washington DC and hand-deliver your message to every single news bureau.
Just a few weeks ago, Nobel and Pulitzer prizewinning New York Times columnist Paul Krugman wrote the terrible truth about how much writers are intimidated by smear and pressure campaigns:
It seems obvious from here that the narrow-minded policies of the current [Israeli] government are basically a gradual, long-run form of national suicide—….to say anything to that effect is to bring yourself under intense attack from organized groups that try to make any criticism of Israeli policies tantamount to anti-Semitism.
He said what we have heard from countless other journalists—that the pressure campaigns succeed in getting them to avoid the topic altogether. That’s why we have to fight back.
60 Minutes is a leader in journalism, and we know other news outlets will follow. Help us tell the truth: these scare tactics only work if we let them.
The cost of speaking the facts is nothing compared to what Palestinians have already endured—decades of unlawful home demolitions, checkpoints, land confiscation, detentions without charges, and much more.
Please, take a moment to chip in. Send a message to every major news outlet in American that we demand fair and honest reporting. Don’t let journalists back down.
Thank you,
