Iran’s Revolutionary Guards to stage an exercise – first response to EU oil embargo

Twelve hours after DEBKAfile reported Gulf armies and the US Fifth Fleet had gone on alert in case of Iranian reprisals for the EU oil embargo which went into force Sunday, Brig. Gen. Amir-Ali Hajizadeh, commander of Iran’s IRGC Aerospace Division, announced a new three-day missile exercise would start Monday. Long-, medium- and short-range missiles would target “simulations of trans-regional forces’ airbases in the northern Semnan Desert,” he announced. “IRGC fighter jets and unmanned bombers” would strike predetermined targets on day three.
