Government Spying
After squandering millions of taxpayer dollars and subjecting thousands of Muslim Americans to surveillance, a six-year investigation by the New York Police Department’s (NYPD) Demographics Unit has proved to be a total failure, resulting in not even a single case being opened against suspected-to-be-guilty parties. According to Assistant Chief Thomas Galati, “I never made a lead from rhetoric that came from a demographics report, and I was here since 2006.”
Former U.S. Marine’s Patriotic Facebook Posts Land Him in Psych Ward
Brandon Raub, a twice-decorated former Marine who was taken into custody in mid-August for posting messages on the Internet alleged to be “terrorist” in nature, was released on August 23 following a judge’s order. According to the civil rights watchdog group legally defending Raub, his arrest could be a foreshadowing of arbitrary detainment without criminal charges under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
One-Third of Americans Poor or ‘Near Poor’
You don’t need to thumb through a history book to find snapshots of Americans suffering through a great depression. Today, the poverty stricken are more visible than ever. They’re living in cars, under freeway bypasses and camping out in tent cities that are popping up around the country.
Israeli Court Whitewashes Killing of U.S. Peace Activist
Rachel Corrie, the young American girl, “put herself in a dangerous situation,” so it was her fault she was crushed to death by an armored Israeli D9 bulldozer on March 17, 2003. Miss Corrie could have saved herself if she had not protested the demolition of a Palestinian family’s home—and moved out of the zone of danger “as any reasonable person would have done.”

AFP PODCAST & ARTICLE: U.S. Totally Unprepared for Coming Solar Superstorm
Over the past several days, 153 years ago, the world was set on fire from the Sun. Though there are very few Americans who are aware of this, the historical record is clear: from August 28 until September 2, 1859, several sunspots and solar flares were observed on the sun by the astronomer Richard Carrington. The largest flare took only 17 hours to make it to Earth, which ordinarily takes three to four days. This great geomagnetic storm, known as the solar storm of 1859, the 1859 Solar Superstorm, or the Carrington Event, took the world by storm, no pun intended.
There is consensus in the scientific community that another Carrington Event is on its way, and perhaps sooner than any of us would want to know. Dr. Peter Vincent Pry, the Executive Director of the Task Force on National and Homeland Security, explains the science behind Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), both the natural and man-made versions, and the politics behind why Congress has left U.S. citizens vulnerable to an EMP attack, which would create Armageddon, in this eye-opening interview (30:38).

Free Julian Assange!
For a few tense moments during the week of August 19, British officials threatened to have police storm Ecuador’s embassy in London in order to seize Wikileaks founder Julian Assange who sought refuge there and who has been granted asylum by Ecuador. Such a move would be unprecedented, especially in terms of violating asylum rights under the Vienna Convention.

Feds Stockpiling Ammo
Is the federal government, which is tasked with protecting the United States inside the confines of our borders, preparing for a domestic war in the coming years? In the past three years, officials have stockpiled over a billion rounds of military-grade ammunition, leaving many people to wonder why the feds are in possession of so much deadly firepower.
Secessionist Movements Grow Across U.S.
With dissent higher in this country than it has been in decades, a number of secessionist groups are asking the question: Would certain states or territories be better off if they seceded from the union?
On August 16 AMERICAN FREE PRESS interviewed Thomas Naylor, the founder of the Second Vermont Republic, which is at the forefront of America’s secessionist movement.
Prison Industry Stealing U.S. Jobs
As if American businesses don’t have enough trouble competing with free traders, who exploit cheap labor in third world countries to make sizable profits, they are also fighting government-run corporations that pay prisoners pennies on the dollar to manufacture cheap goods and undercut private industry.
DoJ Clears Goldman Sachs in $1.3T Customer Rip-Off
The Department of Justice (DoJ) announced it would not seek a criminal indictment against Wall Street giant Goldman Sachs (GS)—even after a Senate investigation found the mega-bank guilty of profiting from its clients’ losses.
“There is not a viable basis to bring a criminal prosecution with respect to Goldman Sachs or its employees in regard to the allegations set forth in the report,” the DoJ said in a statement.
