Cdsapi’s Added Comment:  What in hell is going on in the “Land of the FREE?”  Dictatorship has many faces.  Unabashed corruption seems to be a constant.
An open marketplace is a balancing act between “Supply and Demand”.
Identification and information are the fundamental prerequisites.
Citizens have issued a clear statement  –  they demand the inalienable right to know what is in their food, and the inalienable right to be able to IDENTIFY and NOT TO BUY products that are known to be hazardous to their health, and products that they decide to reject.  Citizens will not tolerate the “legitimization” of a TOXIC FOOD SUPPLY.
No Supplier, no Corporation, no Company and NO GOVERNMENT has the right to HIDE and BURY- by legislating out of existence – ESSENTIAL INFORMATION from the consuming public by passing laws and regulations that protect secrecy, deceit, criminality – “legalistically legitimizing” the sacrificing of health and survival of man and beast.
In seems that whenever corporate, stakeholder and stockholder PROFITS are at stake (threatened), in today’s laser-focused Midas Touch “economic paradigm”, the “legitimizing” of incalculable, inevitable destruction of health in people, animals and the ecology becomes legalistically entrenched in corrupted laws and regulations, resorting to illegal means to protect immoral and unethical practices, violating the most fundamental tenets of a civilized society.
It is incomprehensible how, over the past 70+ years, WE have allowed the SUPPLY SIDE of the equation to MANDATE ALL THE DETERMINANTS in order to protect their profits and camouflage a “TOXIC ECONOMY”, that is killing everything (literally), under the umbrella of propagandized “progress”.
Citizens demand the right to know what they are putting into their bodies and to what hazards they are being exposed.  Identification is the essential prerequisite to having and making choices.
With multinational Corporations & Governments operating as inseparable Siamese Twins on a global stage, a primary strategic option still remains for consumers.
Hit them in the pocketbook!  BOYCOTT their products completely.
Refuse to buy any of their “processed foods” and contaminated products.  PERIOD.
This is one message that their criminal minds of “expediency” still understand.
I can just hear the chorus from some of my readers – how can I manage?
Simple.  I have been doing it for decades – and so can you, with ingenuity and simplicity. I have found no need for any of their overly-commercialized products – the center of supermarkets and the laden shelves in drugstores are places that I do not frequent – there is nothing there in their vast array of “already-made-for-me convenience products” that I want or need, apart from maybe T.P.
The Processed Foods, aside from having become nutritional abominations, are the hiding places for GMOs, as well as aspartame, and an endless list of chemical concoctions with unpronounceable names, that God never intended should enter the biological bodies.
As Dr. Hofer used to say “ If man made it, don’t eat it.”
Tell the multinational Big Food Corporations to go to hell – just refuse to buy their junk if they are not prepared to clean up their act.  Support the local suppliers of wholesome food – and also grow some of your own (organically). Support the local economy where you live.  Participate in the movement to remove GMOs from agriculture and the Food Supply.
Can you imagine what the response would be if EVERYONE in the country refused to buy ANY processed foods even for just one month?  Even if 50% did that!
(They would also soon discover that they didn’t really need them in the first place.
When they see how much better they feel, they will also begin to realize that our taste buds are killing us  – which IS the Big Food Corporate Game Strategy – “taste addiction”.)
Our grandparents didn’t have them, and they survived WITHOUT THEM.  So can we!
Can you hear the reverberations all the way to Wall Street?
Corporations will do what is necessary to protect their “bottom line”.
Only the public pressure of “lost income” will make them change direction from one of “exploitation” to one of “integrity and service to consumer demand”. .
PS: Canadians, remember that whatever USA AG and the FDA does, Canada is obligated to “harmonize” their laws and regulations under signed Trade Agreements.  The Harper Government is a primary global strategist for expanding the global proliferation of GMOs. They still insist that they are “safe”, even while they are looking at the dead bodies.
Revealed: Big Food’s New Plan to Kill GMO Labeling Laws
The food industry is going door-to-door on Capitol Hill, seeking lawmakers willing to sponsor a bill to preempt state mandatory GMO labeling laws by substituting a weak federal “solution.”
The “solution” Big Food has in mind, revealed on Jan. 7 by POLITICO, would limit the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) power to require mandatory labeling of foods containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs).  It would also wipe out states’ rights to enact mandatory labeling laws, and would guarantee companies the right to use the word “natural” on products that contain GMOs.
Big Food’s plan also would likely try to appease consumers by including weak FDA ‘guidance’ on voluntary labeling of GMOs — guidance that would exempt common ingredients such as high fructose corn syrup, canola oil and others.  And require little or no independent verification for claiming a product is GMO-free.
It’s not as though we didn’t see it coming.
Last week, after learning that the Grocery Manufacturers Association (Big Food’s lobbying group), had petitioned the FDA to allow food makers to use the word “natural” on GMO-contaminated foods, we predicted a treacherous road ahead for the anti-GMO movement in 2014.
In 2013, we warned about a letter to the FDA asking the agency to finalize its 2001 guidance on voluntary labeling of GMOs — a move we suggested then, and still believe, would preempt state and federal mandatory labeling of GMOs.
In a recent op-ed in the Los Angeles Times, two former government officials floated the idea of a compromise that would include allowing specific amounts of GMOs, and/or exemptions for certain ingredients, such as high fructose corn syrup or canola oil, where processing has made it impossible to detect GMO ingredients.  The authors also reiterated industry’s argument that if consumers want GMO-free, they can buy organic.  In response, one scientist told the OCA:
“That is a smokescreen that allows the biotech industry to avoid taking responsibility for the harm caused by their patented, transgenic creations.  Without mandatory GMO labeling, there is no way to understand public health impacts or conduct epidemiological research on diets containing GMOs.”
After decades of quietly profiting by contaminating food products with cheap, unsafe GMO-contaminated ingredients, the food industry sees those profits at risk.  They’ve spent millions to defeat laws that are common in 60 other countries.  Now, in an effort to undermine state laws, and subvert the democratic process, Big Food wants to cut a deal with Congress and the FDA.  A deal that will provide no meaningful protection for consumers, and hand industry yet another free pass to poison and pollute.
Consumers have been clear.  More than 90 percent of us want mandatory GMO labeling laws.
No voluntary schemes.
No watered-down regulations.
No compromises.
Please sign our petition to the FDA asking the agency to reject any federal law that is weaker than the state laws already passed in Maine and Connecticut, and proposed in Vermont and other states.
This will be the year that consumers fight back with a vengeance against politicians who work for Monsanto and Coca-Cola, not the citizens who elected them.
This will be the year that we come out in numbers never before seen, to fight for a right so basic that nearly every country except the U.S. recognizes it.  The right to a simple label that tells us whether or not our food has been contaminated with genetically modified organisms.
Big Food has thrown down the gauntlet.  It’s up to us to make them sorry they did.
Thank you for all you have already done.  And for all that we will do together in 2014.
