Ukraine: Erhöhte Radioaktivität in Khmelnytskyi, Frankreich und UK versprechen mehr Waffen
Der russische Volltreffer auf ein gigantisches Munitionsdepot in Khmelnytskyi soll zwar kein Einsatz einer kleinen taktischen Nuklearwaffe gewesen sein, doch die Strahlung der Region hat sich dennoch beträchtlich erhöht. Die Bevölkerung ist in Sorge. Möglich wäre, dass so genannte “abgereicherte Uran-Munition” explodiert ist. Die Reste davon könnten jetzt über die Region verteilt sein. Inzwischen versprechen europäische Länder die Lieferung von weiteren Waffensystemen und Munition.
Durch die gewaltige Explosion am 13. Mai könnte die Region nun verstrahlt worden sein. Das ist der Nachteil beim Einsatz der abgereicherten Uran-Munition, der auch eintritt, wenn diese aus diversen Geschützen abgefeuert wird. Diese Art Munition ist zwar verpönt, aber nicht verboten. Die Geschosse haben eine hohe Dichte und sind damit in der Lage, Panzerungen zu durchdringen.
“Nach einem Gutachten des Wissenschaftlichen Ausschusses Gesundheit und Umweltrisiken der Europäischen Kommission von 2010 gibt es “keine Hinweise auf Umwelt- und Gesundheitsrisiken” durch abgereichertes Uran.” berichtete das Newsportal GMX im März 2023, führte aber weiter aus, dass es dazu auch Gegenmeinungen gibt. Das Problem würde nicht unbedingt an der Strahlung, sondern an der hohen Giftigkeit des Schwermetalls liegen, das über lange Zeit hinweg die Böden und auch das Grundwasser belasten könne.
Nach der Explosion stiegen die Strahlungswerte rund um die Stadt von zuvor durchschnittlich 90 bis 110 nSv/h auf einen Spitzenwert von 157 an. Experten vermuten, dass viele Tonnen britischer Munition, die für Challenger-Panzer vorgesehen war, buchstäblich in die Luft gingen. Für die Zivilbevölkerung sind langfristige Gesundheitsschäden bis hin zu Geburtsdefekten bei Babys denkbar. Im Krieg leiden immer die Unschuldigen am meisten.
Rätselhaft ist der Umstand, dass die Mess-Stationen bereits am 12. Mai anschlugen – die Angriffe und Explosionen ereigneten sich erst in den frühen Morgenstunden des 13. Mai.
Inzwischen kündigten Frankreich und Großbritannien großzügige Lieferungen von Waffen, Drohnen, Raketen und Munition an. Frankreich sprach konkret von Dutzenden gepanzerten Fahrzeugen und leichten Panzern, außerdem solle die Luftabwehrfähigkeit gestärkt werden. Großbritannien versprach die Lieferung von Kampfdrohnen, die eine Einsatzreichweite von 200 km hätten. Außerdem wolle man der Ukraine weitere Flugabwehrraketen schicken. Großbritannien liefert bereits jetzt Marschflugkörper an die Ukraine. Russland hatte in der Vergangenheit häufig vor solchen Waffenspenden gewarnt, welche in der Lage sind, auch das russische Gebiet selbst massiv zu gefährden.
Inzwischen versucht China als vermittelnde Kraft in den Konflikt einzubringen. Eine Rolle, die früher unter anderem das ehemals neutrale Österreich ausgeübt hatte. Der chinesische Sonderbeauftragte für eurasische Angelegenheiten, Li Hui, ist ab heute, Montag, unterwegs, um politische Lösungen im Ukraine-Krieg zu erörtern. Demgegenüber stehen Bemühungen der EU-Führung, auch gegen China zunächst einen Wirtschaftskrieg zu starten.

The problem would not necessarily be due to the radiation, but to the high toxicity of the heavy metal, which could pollute the soil and groundwater over a long period of time.

Tymczasem kraje europejskie obiecują dostarczyć więcej systemów uzbrojenia i amunicji.
Region mógł teraz zostać skażony przez potężną eksplozję z 13 maja. Jest to wada stosowania amunicji ze zubożonym uranem, która występuje również przy strzelaniu z różnych dział. Ten rodzaj amunicji nie jest mile widziany, ale nie jest zabroniony. Pociski mają dużą gęstość i dlatego są w stanie przebić pancerz.

Tymczasem Francja i Wielka Brytania ogłosiły hojne dostawy broni, dronów, rakiet i amunicji. Francja konkretnie mówiła o kilkudziesięciu pojazdach opancerzonych i lekkich czołgach, a także o wzmocnieniu zdolności obrony powietrznej. Wielka Brytania obiecała dostarczyć drony bojowe o zasięgu 200 km. Ponadto chcą wysłać na Ukrainę więcej rakiet przeciwlotniczych. Wielka Brytania już dostarcza Ukrainie pociski manewrujące. W przeszłości Rosja często ostrzegała przed takimi darowiznami broni, które mogą stanowić masowe zagrożenie dla samego terytorium Rosji.
Chiny starają się teraz pełnić rolę mediatora w konflikcie. Rola, jaką w przeszłości odgrywała między innymi neutralna wcześniej Austria.
